Winter at Canopy Tours

Canopy Tours is amazing no matter the time of year…..but, if your thinking of coming in Winter you are in for the Ultimate experience!

At Canopy Tours it doesn’t matter if it is Summer or Winter. Rain or shine.

There is something magical about the forest no matter the weather, or time of the year.

In Autumn and Winter the fungi bloom brilliant colours and the dewy leaves are bright and healthy. As long as you are warm on these brisk days you will enjoy am experience you and your loved ones will cherish forever!

Some customers tell us afterwards the vivid memory for them was how the freshness of the air filled their lungs and rejuvenated them ! And if it’s raining even better – the forest sparkles in the rain!

Wondering what to wear?

We recommend in these colder months to layer up!

  • Wear a wool, fleece or thermal layer against your skin.
  • Make sure you have warm socks on (that are not made of cotton).
  • We suggest you wear two more warm layers than what you are comfortable wearing outside.

If you didn’t bring enough warm clothing with you on holiday, don’t worry we will provide you with high quality gear to keep you warm and dry!

We will provide:

  • Waterproof and windproof jackets
  • Waterproof and windproof pants
  • Fleece tops
  • Warm hats
  • Gloves

Your guides will be doing all the work for you on tour, you won’t get warm by being active on the tour.

Sometimes it takes a little arm twisting from us to convince people that it is magnificent on the cooler days or the wet days but we have never had anyone ever come back and say they wish they hadn’t gone!!! In fact we have had Rotorua locals who came on sunny days only to return on wet days to see how the forest changes!

Here’s a post straight from our TripAdvisor page by Arnaz23 who visited us in Winter.

“…The rain was completely pouring down on us but we still had a lovely time because Canopy Tours provided us with equipment that kept us from getting drenched (fleece jumpers, raincoats, pants, gloves, helmets etc…) and it gave the forest a different feel. Thanks!! :D”
