All you need to know before getting attached

We are safety first. Our caring and expert team will take care of you every moment you’re with us. You can be a first-time zipliner or an adventure pro, no experience is necessary.

Small group departures start in the morning and continue throughout the day, with the last tour returning before dark sets in (unless a later experience is offered; we provide head torches). We supply all the mandatory safety equipment, including a helmet, harness, and guiding equipment. Covered shoes are a must, and comfortable clothing to suit the weather conditions is best.

We provide additional warmth and wet weather gear if needed. Your guides will have water for you while on tour. It’s best to eat and drink before your experience, as we don’t take food and other drinks into the forest (we have as minimal an impact as possible, you’ll see).

Regardless of our backgrounds, every Rotorua Zipline guide undergoes an intensive induction program and participates in ongoing training with different guiding tiers. Several of our guides have reached our 1000 Tours Club, and a few legends have even reached the incredible 2000 Tours League!

Before your Tour Starts

Every guest must complete a Health and Safety check-in form before the experience. We need to know if all guests can meet the physical requirements for their tour.

We have set tour times and limited spaces on each departure, so it is best to pre-book your experience. We ask for payments to be made when booking, prior to the experience commencing.

Pictures will be taken on tour for you, and they are free to download and share! You can also hire our Action Cameras to capture every exhilarating moment of your experience. You are welcome to bring your own devices, too. Keep them close and secure.

Our base has large luggage containers to keep your valuables safe while you are on tour. We’ll ask you to leave handbags, car keys, backpacks, etc., either in your vehicles or in our luggage containers so they are not damaged or lost.

On the Day of your Tour

Everyone checks in at our base at 147 Fairy Springs Road. There is parking at our base, which is monitored by our team.

The amazing Customer Experience Team will greet you when you enter the front doors and gather any last bits and pieces we may need. This is your last flushing toilet, so make the most of it!

During check-in, we discretely weigh each guest to ensure everyone is within our weight limit. Please do not be offended; your safety is our absolute priority, and it is imperative that we know our guests are safe when with us. We have a 120kg weight limit for both experiences.

While at the base, you will meet the others in your small group and your passionate guides who will be with you throughout the experience. We’ll chat about everything you need to know and get everyone geared up in their safety equipment.

We then jump in our Canopy Tours vans and drive you 10 minutes (13 km) out to Okoheriki (our forest) to start your adventure within one of New Zealand’s most incredible forests!

If you are unsure if this experience is fitting for you or if you are differently abled, don’t hesitate to reach out to us by phone or email.

We are committed to ensuring that all our guests’ experiences are as smooth and enjoyable as possible while ensuring your absolute safety and the safety of those in your group.

Don’t hesitate, we are here to help you get attached!

Weather

We operate in almost all weather conditions. It is incredible in the rain, so don’t worry if it’s expected when you’re adventuring!

High winds, thunder, and lightning can affect tours. Rotorua Canopy Tours reserves the right to cancel any tour due to weather conditions, hazard identification, and events beyond our control that will interfere with the safe operation of the business.

If the weather conditions cause a change to your tour time, we will contact you as soon as possible. We will offer you these options: delay your departure if the weather looks to improve, re-book for another date, put your credit on a voucher to enjoy any other time, or give you a full refund.

OUR CANCELLATION POLICY

You are welcome to make changes to your booking 24 hours prior to your tour departure time. This will not incur any charges.

Please call us if you need to make changes or cancel your booking. These changes may incur a fee if within 24 hours of your booking, but we will do our best to avoid this. If you fail to arrive for your check-in without communication, a full cancellation charge of your total booking value will apply.

GIFT VOUCHERS

Gift Vouchers are not redeemable for cash and are valid for 12 months from the purchase date unless otherwise stated on the voucher.

PRICING

All pricing, including relevant taxes, are displayed and charged in New Zealand dollars. Rotorua Canopy Tours reserves the right to alter published prices at any time. The child price applies to children aged 15 and under.

PHOTOS & VIDEO

Customer photos taken on tour will be provided to guests free of charge. Guides will take pictures to the best of their ability. As many factors can affect photo quality, including lighting and weather conditions, which can be challenging, we cannot guarantee the quality of these images.
Rotorua Canopy Tours reserves the right to use any recording and images for promotional purposes without reward. Please speak to one of our team if you are uncomfortable having your pictures taken.
