NZ fungi found at Canopy Tours

Rotorua Canopy Tours takes you deep into the native forest where there are many different forms and species of NZ fungi.

NZ native birds

At Canopy Tours our beautiful ancient forest is filled with all sorts of NZ native birds including Kereru, Tui, North Island Robin, Kaka, Long-tailed Cuckoo, tomtits and fantails.

Canopy conservation Phase 2

In October 2015 Canopy Tours invested in a new range of automated traps from Goodnature. Ready for phase 2 of the conservation programme.

Conservation project Phase 3

In October 2016 after months of hard work the Rotorua Canopy Tours team implemented phase three of their pest trapping programme.

Good nature rat trap and possum traps

Our original labour-intensive method of trapping pests in the Dansey Road Scenic Reserve wasn’t a viable long-term solution, so we went back to the drawing board and discovered Good nature traps.

Canopy Tours conservation efforts begin – Phase 1

In 2013 after running the zipline tour for a year they had saved up $35,000 which was enough money to get started on their conservation dream. ‘Phase 1’ of the conservation project concentrated on a 50ha section of the Reserve, directly around the zipline course. 1100 traps were placed into the forest in August 2013 including rat, mouse, and possum traps with incredible results, and hard lessons learnt.
